Interlock System - Shift Lock System Circuit Troubleshooting

4-door Model (KQ, KM and KX Models)
  1. Press the brake pedal.

Are the brake lights ON?

YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Repair faulty brake light circuit.

  1. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box No. 10 connector (13P).
  2. Measure the voltage between the No. 3 terminal of the No. 10 connector (13P) and body ground when pressing the brake pedal and when it released.

Is there battery voltage when pressing the brake pedal and no voltage when it released?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Repair open or short in brake pedal position switch wire between the brake pedal position switch and the multiplex control unit.

  1. Reconnect the No. 10 connector (13P) and disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box No. 9 connector (12P).
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

  1. Measure the voltage between the No. 10 terminal of the No. 9 connector (12P) and body ground. (The shift lever is in position.)

Is there voltage?

YES - Repair open in ATP P wire between the transmission range switch and the multiplex control unit.

NO - Go to step 7.

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Reconnect the No. 9 connector (12P).
  3. Disconnect the centre console (see page 20-73).
  4. Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
