  1. Install the starter end cover (A) to retain the brush holder (B).

Starter Reassembly (Except D15Y2, D15Y3 (Philippine model), D16W7 (KG model), D16W8, D16W9, D17Z1, D17Z2, D17Z3, D17A1, D17A2, D17A5 engines)

  1. Install the armature in the housing, and install the brush holder, then install the tach brush in the holder.

NOTE: To seat new brushes, slip a strip of #500 or #600 sandpaper, with the grit side up, between the commutator and each brush, and smoothly rotate will be sanded to the same contour as the commutator.

  1. Compress the spring, and install it in the brush holder.

  1. Install the brush holder insulator (A) and end cover (B).
