How to Reset the ECM/PCM

Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the No. 6 ECU (ECM/PCM) (15A) fuse (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box (B) for 10 seconds.

How to End a Troubleshooting Session (required after any troubleshooting)

  1. Reset the ECM/PCM as described above.
  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  3. Disconnect the DLC terminal box from the DLC (16P).

NOTE: The ECM/PCM is part of the immobiliser system (D15Y6, D15Y3 (KY with immobiliser, KN models), D15Y5, D15Y4, D17Z1 (KQ, KZ models), D17A1 (KK model), D17A2 (except MA model), D17A5 (KY with immobiliser, KN models) engines). If you replace the ECM/PCM, it will have a different immobiliser code. In order for the engine to start, you must rewrite the immobiliser code with the Honda PGM Tester.

How to Remove the ECM/PCM for Testing

If the inspection for a trouble code requires voltage or resistance checks at the ECM/PCM connectors, remove the ECM/PCM and test it:

  1. Remove the passenger's dashboard lower cover (see page 20-78), the passenger's kick panel (see page 20-64), and the glove box (see page 20-79).
  2. Remove the bolt. Cut the plastic cross brace in the glove box opening with diagonal cutters in the area shown, and discard it.

*: The illustration shows LHD model.

  1. Remove the relays (A), then remove the bolts and the glove box frame (B).
