Drum Brake: Remove the brake drum (see page 18-24) and shoes, and disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shoe (see page 19-38). Remove the flange bolts (A) and parking brake cable (B) from the backing plate (C). Reinstall the parking brake cable in the reverse order of removal and note these items: Before installing the brake drum, clean the mating surface of the rear hub and the inside of the brake drum. Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces on the brake drum and inside of the wheel. Adjust the parking brake (see page 19-6).

Disc Brake: Release the parking brake lever fully and remove the brake hose clip (A) from the parking brake cable. Disconnect the parking brake cable (B) from the lever (C).
