Crankshaft and Piston Removal

 7-11  

  1. Remove the oil pan.
  2. Remove the engine block end cover.

  1. Remove the oil screen (A), then remove the oil pump (B).
  1. Remove the bearing cap bolts. To prevent warpage, unscrew the bolts in sequence 1/3 turn at a time; repeat the sequence until all bolts are loosened.

BEARING CAP BOLTS LOOSENING SEQUENCE:

  1. Remove the bearing cap bridge/bearings. Keep all bearings in order.
  2. Turn the crankshaft so No. 2 and No. 3 crankpins are at the top.
  3. Remove the rod caps/bearings. Keep all caps/bearings in order.
  4. Lift the crankshaft out of the engine, being careful not to damage the journals.
